What is an ATP?
An Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) is a certified specialist who has demonstrated competence in analyzing the needs of consumers with disabilities and in selecting, designing, fitting, customizing, and training the use of assistive technology devices. ATP certification is issued by RESNA (the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America).
Why it matters: Medicare and most major insurers require that a Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) power wheelchair be evaluated and fitted by an interdisciplinary team that includes a physician, a physical or occupational therapist, and an ATP-certified CRT supplier. Without an ATP on the team, the claim cannot be submitted.
DMEPOS Accredited
MES Mobility is a DMEPOS-accredited supplier. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires all DME suppliers to obtain and maintain accreditation from a CMS-approved accreditation organization in order to bill Medicare. This accreditation verifies that the supplier meets federal standards for quality, safety, and business practices.
