    What is Pressure Mapping?

Pressure mapping is a clinical tool used to assess the distribution of pressure between a person's body and their seating surface. Using a highly sensitive sensor pad placed on the power wheelchair cushion, we can visualize areas of high pressure in real-time on a computer screen.

This objective data allows our RESNA certified ATPs and clinicians to make precise adjustments to seating systems, select the optimal cushion materials, and educate users on effective pressure relief techniques.

    • Real-time visual feedback of pressure distribution
    • Objective data to support equipment justification
    • Identification of asymmetrical sitting postures
    • Evaluation of different cushion materials and designs

    Key Benefits

    Prevent Skin Breakdown

Identify at-risk areas before they develop into serious pressure injuries or sores.

    Targeted Treatment

Assist in the healing process of existing sores by ensuring pressure is properly offloaded.

    Optimize Posture

Ensure symmetrical weight distribution to improve overall sitting tolerance and function.

Visual comparison of pressure distribution in wheelchair seating: "Before" showing uneven pressure areas and "After" indicating improved symmetrical weight distribution, emphasizing benefits of pressure mapping for preventing sores and optimizing posture.
